Difference Between Macro-Evolution and Micro-Evolution

Macro-Evolution and Micro-Evolution:

Organic evolution is a continuous dynamic process. Biological anthropologists attempted to study macro-evolution and micro-evolution. Macro and micro are two approaches on the basis of which evolutionary processes are explained. Macro-evolution is concerned with the long-range history of evolution. But micro-evolution is concerned with short-range history, between two generations i.e. between father generation and off-spring generation. The main points of differences between microevolution and macroevolution are as follows-

It is concerned with the total change of species. Such types of changes are visible in the animal kingdom in a long-time span.It is concerned with changes in an endogamous group.

It is concerned with developed and isolated groups of species.It is concerned with continuous changes that have taken place or that is taking place in a population.
The missing link is helpful in macroevolution.It is of no use in microevolution because it is concerned only with the living human population.
In macroevolution, the entire pre-historic human populations and their descendants are studied.In microevolution, small endogamous human populations and their off-springs are studied.
It follows a unilinear sequence.It follows a multilinear sequence.
Broken teeth, bones and skulls are evidence for reconstructing the evolutionary sequence of macroevolution.Microevolutionary sequences are reconstructed on the basis of haemoglobin, gene pool, blood groups, enzymes, metabolic actions and pedigree.
Macroevolution is concerned with human palaeontology.Microevolution is concerned with population genetics.
It is based on past-human events.It is based on present human events. This gives us an account of changes taking place in genes that can be observed in an endogamous group. Natural selection, mutation, migration, mate selection and adaptation with the environment play a significant role in microevolution.
