Antonyms and Synonyms:

(1) Prefixes and Suffixes- Many new words are formed by the addition of a syllable in the beginning or end of a word. A syllable added at the beginning of a word is called a Prefix, while the one added at the end of a word is called a suffix, as-

Prefix- “be” in befriend and “en” in endear.

Suffix- “hood” in childhood, and “age” in passage.

(2) Antonyms are words having opposite or contrary meanings.

A large number of opposites are formed by adding Prefixes to word; as
